Sadé Meeks, MS, RD

Marketing Director

Sadé Meeks, MS, RD, is a writer, food activist, and lover of nutrition. Her love for food started in the kitchen with her mom while growing up in Jackson, MS. This love blossomed and led her to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts from Mississippi University for Women and a Master's Degree in Nutritional Science from California State University, Los Angeles. Meeks has self-published a food literacy cookbook, and her nutrition expertise have been featured in Reader's Digest, MSN, and Yahoo News.

Meeks worked as the Diabetes Dietitian for Rutherford County Health Department. During her tenure, she was awarded the Excellence in Promotion Award by the Mid-Cumberland Region TN Health Department. She also worked as Marketing Dietitian for the health food company Freedom Foods. She has acquired leadership positions as Nutrition Chair for the Tennessee Public Health Association and Advisory Board Member of Middle Tennessee State University DPD Program.

Meeks is currently the Executive Director of her nonprofit Growing Resilience In The South (GRITS Inc). GRITS was founded in 2017, and its mission is to improve communities' health and well-being through increased awareness of nutrition, food history, and culture.

Meeks is an avid advocate for minority communities. She believes it is part of her purpose to empower communities that have been impacted by systemic racism and health disparities. One way Meeks aims to empower communities is by bridging the gaps between nutrition and culture.
